In the shadow of Rajasthan’s rugged terrain, a quiet revolution in sustainable hospitality is unfolding. The Nahargarh Ranthambore Heritage Property, a luxurious five-star retreat, has just marked a significant milestone: one year of powering its operations with a groundbreaking 400 kW-peak agri-voltaic installation.
This isn’t your average solar array. Designed and implemented by Vareyn Solar, the system does double duty, generating clean energy while nurturing a thriving half-hectare kitchen garden. It’s a testament to the property owner Shri Gaj Singh Ji’s vision of sustainability without compromise.
Completed Project
“We wanted to harness solar power without sacrificing our farm-to-table ethos,” explains Ishan Chaturvedi, Co-Founder & Director at Vareyn Solar, who shepherded the project from concept to reality “The agri-voltaic approach allowed us to maximize land use while maintaining the breathtaking views our guests to cherish.” explains Shri Dhruv Singh Ji – Owner, Nahargarh Ranthambhore
The results speak for themselves. In its inaugural year, the installation has not only exceeded energy production expectations but also garnered industry accolades. EQ International Magazine named it the Best Agri-Voltaic Project Rajasthan 2023, while Solar Quarter awarded it Best Industrial Project 2023.
Beneath the sleek Navitas Bonito Max 545Watt-peak panels, a cornucopia of produce flourishes. Guests can savor tomatoes, potatoes, and broccoli grown mere steps from their table. The clever design accommodates full-scale agricultural operations, allowing tractors and other machinery to operate unimpeded.
“It’s a win-win,” Chaturvedi notes. “We’re generating clean power and fresh ingredients simultaneously, all while preserving the property’s stunning aesthetic.”
The technical prowess behind the installation is equally impressive. Sungrow industrial-size inverters ensure optimal power conversion, contributing to the system’s remarkable efficiency. This performance has been instrumental in propelling Nahargarh Ranthambore towards its ambitious carbon-neutrality goals.
As the hospitality industry grapples with its environmental impact, Vareyn Solar’s agri-voltaic solution at Nahargarh Ranthambore serves as a beacon of innovation. It demonstrates that luxury and sustainability can coexist harmoniously, powered by the sun and nourished by the earth.
One year in, this marriage of solar technology and agriculture is proving that the future of eco-conscious hospitality is not just bright – it’s delicious.
